the UK ’s most prestigious rowing races. Wes Maccabe, age 21, started out as an architectural technician at the
international design-led consultancy, with Managing Director Rob Charlton as his line manager. He is now the latest
beneficiary of their recognition and reward programme, which enables the company to fund outside interests for employees.
As a ‘senior three lightweight’ sculler – Wes was over the moon when Waring and Netts offered to sponsor
his dream to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta. Wes said: “I talked to Rob about my rowing prospects and how the
boat I had at that time was ok, but to get to the next level to train and compete, I would need to upgrade. I’d
heard about the reward programme and asked if there were any sponsorship opportunities.” Rob added: “As Wes
has been with us for almost four years, he has put a lot into the company and shown real commitment and dedication for,
not only what he does here at Waring and Netts but also with his rowing. When someone trains as many times as Wes does
in a week, if that doesn’t convey a spirit of commitment, nothing else will!” This isn’t the only
incentive this forward-thinking company offers its team. With over 100 people working under the Waring and Netts brand,
they pledge to invest in everyone’s skills and personal development during their time at the company. In Wes’s
case, the investment has come in the form of a Waring and Netts’ branded boat, which will accompany him to Henley
should he win a place in the race. Rob Charlton is keen on this approach of encouraging Waring and Netts people in their
activities inside and outside the office and is always looking at new ways to motivate his team. He says: “Waring
and Netts carries with it a great deal of heritage, of which we are particularly proud; however, we are able to build
on this successfully by always looking forward and continuously challenging our ways of doing things –
particularly when it comes to our people.”>

<readtype>1></readtype>

Black and Gold Ball>

<readtype>1></readtype>

Aspire brings business leaders back into the classroom>

<readtype>1></readtype>

Building skills in architecture gives student food for thought>

<readtype>1></readtype>

Erland flies north for management role>

<readtype>1></readtype>

Gateshead Schools PFI>

<readtype>1></readtype>

Gateshead Schools PFI>

<readtype>0></readtype>
