Environment
Having a dedicated team of environmental specialists with in-depth sector knowledge allows us to incorporate design services ranging from landscape and urban space projects, through to analysis and planning schemes.
It’s clear to us that society, specifically communities and our clients, are placing increased emphasis and greater expectations on creating high quality and sustainable environments that enrich the lives of those who use the space. In response to this, we have a growing team of specialists who deliver advice at all stages of business and project development.
Landscape Design
Landscape Design is a new addition to _space services. Last year we started to form a new team of experienced designers, led by Nancy Corbett. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne the team will broaden our range of design services – from landscape and urban space projects to analysis and planning schemes based on the latest knowledge in the area concerned.
Urban Design
_space is committed to raising standards in the strategic planning of large sites and regeneration of the built environment through in-depth analysis of social, economic and environmental factors.
The practice has extensive experience of masterplanning dating back to the 1950s when it conceived large private and social housing schemes centred on public town centre amenities and facilities.
Sustainability
Sustainability is no longer a ‘tag on’ to successful design, but a fundamental part of our approach. We pursue knowledge and experience in green design in order to provide the most appropriate advice to our clients. Research and development in this area is championed by our Managing Director of Architecture, Andy Roberts, and we are constantly building on our in-house knowledge bank of case studies and best practice to ensure we stay ahead of the game.
Of course we also have a responsibility to the environment through the management of our business, and we strive to minimise waste internally as well as using recycled and fairly traded materials at every opportunity.
These two elements are combined in our efforts to achieve the BS EN ISO:14001 standard in Environmental Management and when we do achieve it, we will be one of the first design practices in the country to do so.
